Dear Listers,

This way my third Dehwelans. Attendance seems to get smaller each time. The lectures I attended were William OBryan's on Bible Christians, and Ann Hicks Monumental Inscriptions. They were both excellent. For the Tamar Valley Tour, we took a coach from Looe to Plymouth, then the scenic Tamar Valley Line to Calstock. We were treated to a wonderful lunch and a short tour. We then went to the site of a recently discovered Roman military fort founded in the 1st century. Then to Cotehele to tour the museum.

We toured Trelawne Manor, near Pelynt. The manor dates from 1450, and I think is now part of a caravan park. Then we walked to Trelawne Barton farm for Cornish cream tea.

Liskeard was my favorite tour, because this is where my great great grandmother was born in 1846. We took the Looe Valley Line to Liskeard, where we were greeted by the town crier, and the Mayor. We visited the Stuart House, where King Charles l stayed during the Civil War. We toured the museum, walked to St Martin's Church. We were treated to a nice lunch by the town council. Afterwards we took the coach to St Cleer, visiting the dissenters chapel Dissenters Chapel. I never heard of the term dissenters before. Then on to Minions, where some saw cheesewring, I walked to it in 2004, some the hurlers, and others with me, walked to the Prince of Wales Shaft. Anyone seeing the Western Morning News on Tuesday, Sept. 9th, would have seen my picture and family story.

I always enjoy entertainers Heather Dale and Jim Wearne. The pub sing started out slow, but after a few beers were had (not by me), people really got going.

I met several people that had been to other Dehwelans. One problem, we were not given name tags, so trying to remember names was hard. I know people came from Canada, U.S. and U.K. Not very many listers attended. I expected some would come just for the gathering at Kelly's, but that didn't happen.

No matter how bad the weather, or how few attended, I had a wonderful time, and hope that another Dehwelans will be planned.
