Helen was born in Boulder, Colorado. She was 24 years old when the family moved to Arkansas. She stayed in Colorado with her Uncle Clarence and Aunt Polly where she married and raised a family.

Greta Nelson Royal wrote;
I knew Helen Marie. She had a very pretty voice. She was also artistic. On one trip we stopped near Reno and looked her up. She had built an artistic fireplace in a corner of her living room. She was active in a church. I don't remember which. We had a nice visit.
In later years, Helen lived in Chama, New Mexico working in her brother Warren's pizza place.
