Section 2 - William Thomas Woolard (W.T.)(1891-1969)

W.T. was born in Poplar Bluffs, Butler County, MO on 26 December 1891 to John William David Woolard and Susan Arwilda Ogden.

Within a few years the family moved to OK. W.T.'s mother, Susan, died shortly thereafter.

On 22 September 1898, W.T.'s father homesteaded 160 acres in what is now Custer County, about four miles north of Moorewood and 1 ½ miles south of the Dewey County line. At this time W.T.'s father is shown as a widower.

The 1900 US census shows the family in Barnitz Township, Custer County. In the same area and in the next dwellings on the census were W.T.'s aunt Rosa Belle and GM Malissa. W.T.'s father is listed as a widower.

In his 30 March 1904 affidavit W.T.s father states he, his wife and three children resided on the homestead.

On 10 November 1915 W.T.'s father purchased property in Cooperton, Kiowa County, OK.

On 19 April 1919 W.T. was accepted for enlistment at Portland, OR. On 23 April 1919 W.T. enlisted in the Army of the USA at Fort McDowell, CA. His address is shown as Portland, OR, his father is listed as in Hobard (Hobart), OK.

WWI Service (1919-1922)

While in Germany W.T. met a young lady. Her name is a mystery. >W.T. and his German lady friend

Upon discharge in 1922, W.T. gave his future address as Shawnee, OK.
