Mercer Genealogical E-Mail List

Mercer Genealogical E-Mail List

Through the generosity of Rootsweb, a Mercer e-mail list has been established for anyone researching the Mercer family (as well as any other spelling variations, such as Mercier, Messer, etc.) in any location or time frame.

It is FREE . Any messages you send will automatically be sent to everyone subscribed to the list.

There are only a couple of precautions. Messages should be less than 20K. If you have an extremely long message, send it in parts. No attachments should be sent through the server. Offers to send attachments (such as large gedcoms, etc.) can be made on the list, but the actual attachment should be sent privately or directly to those who request it. It has been established that plain text messages rather than html messages work the best, since not everyone is receiving the e-mail with the lastest and greatest e-mail program.

There are two different modes of MERCER e-mail.

MERCER-L sends every message in its entirety immediately to all the subscribers.

MERCER-D is a digest version. You still receive every message that is sent, but the messages are accumulated and sent periodically. (Depending upon message volume, it is sent when the accumulated messages reach a certain memory size or age).

To SUBSCRIBE to MERCER-L, send a message to

[email protected] that contains the word

subscribe

and nothing else (be sure to turn off any signature files, etc.)

To SUBSCRIBE to MERCER DIGEST, send a message to

[email protected] that contains the word

subscribe

and nothing else (be sure to turn off any signature files, etc.)

To POST A MESSAGE to both MERCER-L and MERCER-D, send your message to

[email protected]

To UNSUBSCRIBE from MERCER-L, send a message to [email protected] that contains the word

and nothing else (be sure to turn off any signature files, etc.)

To UNSUBSCRIBE from MERCER-D, send a message to [email protected] that contains the word

and nothing else (be sure to turn off any signature files, etc.)
