EASY WAY TO CREATE A FTM FILE WITH ONE LINE OF DESCENDANTS:

· Go to the oldest ancestor's Family Page [FamPg].
· Create an Outline Descendant report [Outline].
· Click on "Contents" and "# of Descendants to Show" (make sure it's enough - 20+).
· Click on "File" and "Copy/Export Individuals in Outline Descendant Tree".
· Save the file as a FTW extension.
· You should now have a FTM file with only those individuals in it.


TO DOUBLE CHECK YOUR FILE:

· Open the file you just created, then click on "Help" and "Family File Status".
· This will give you counts of the individuals in this file.
· The file you created should be considerably less than your original one.


HARDER WAY TO CREATE A FTM FILE WITH SPECIFIC INDIVIDUALS:

· Go to a Report [Report].
· Click on "Format", "Report Format" and "Custom Report" then [OK].
· Click on "Contents" and "Individuals to Include in Report".
· Click on [Individuals to Include...] and Click on [<<] to clear the buffer.
· Then scroll the left side to the oldest ancestor (or type in his name).
· Push the [Descendants>] button (all these people will appear on the right side).
· If you have another line you'd like to include, do the same thing.
· After you have everyone you desire, click the [OK] button.
· You now have a report of ALL the people you wish to include in your new file.
· Click on "File" and "Copy/Export Individuals in Outline Descendant Tree".
· Save the file as a FTW extension.
· You should now have a FTM file with only those individuals in it.

Now double check your file as described above.
