WILBUR JOHNSON
Wilbur Johnson, a lifetime resident of Lyle, died July 26 at a
nursing home in The Dalles, Ore., at the age of 75.
He was born in High Prairie, Wash. on April 22, 1911. Mr. Johnson
lived in the Lyle area all his life and was a member of Columbia Grange #87
there.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Johnson, Lyle; two sons, Keith
of Lyle and Duane of Goldendale; three grandchildren, Amy, Stacy and Kelly
Johnson; two brothers, Clarence of Bingen and Charlie of Lyle; four sisters,
Blanche Kelly, Lincoln City, Ore., Mabel Dixon of Portland, Alice McCoy of Rogue
River, Ore., and Evelyn Moore, Goldendale.
Services were July 30 at 2 p.m. at Smith Callaway Chapel in The
Dalles, with the Rev. Carol Davies officiating. Committal was at Pleasant Hill
Cemetery in Appleton.
Honorary pallbearers were Bill Brashers, Claude Brashers, Bob
Schilling, Bill Parrish, Douglas Taylor and Carl Jasperson. Pallbearers were
Carl Parrish, Bob Klicker, Tom Amery, Jay Jasperson, Steve Rolfe and Ben
Parrish. Janice Rods, Cathy Carse and Debbie Van DeVanter, the vocalists sang
"Amazing Grace" and "Peace in the Valley."
