KILLED BY TRAIN

            Sampson Queampts, well–known Indian of this district was struck down by a train at Toppenish Sunday.
            Sampson Queampts passed away August 18th at Toppenish, Washington.  Graveside services were held Wednesday, August 21th, at Three Firs Cemetery, Husum, Washington.  Surviving him is a son, John Frank Queampts of Toppenish, Washington, and a sister, Irene Fernandez of Warm Springs Indian Reservation, Oregon.

SAMUEL QUEAMPTS KILLED BY TRAIN

            Samuel Queampts, born at Husum in August, 1904, was killed by a Northern Pacific freight train at Toppenish early Sunday, August 18.  The engineer saw him in the train’s headlight, but it was too late to stop.  Sam was lying on the rails.
            Funeral services were held at Gartner’s Chapel, White Salmon, at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 10.  Fr. Brendan Dorian of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church officiated.
            Burial was in Three Firs Indian cemetery, Husum.
            Sam is survived by one son, John Frank Queampts of Toppenish and a sister, Irene Fernandez, Warm Springs Indian Reservation, Oregon.
            Sam’s residence was Yakima County.
