‘Dick' P. Elmer of Bend died Saturday of an illness. He was 95.
A graveside service will be held at noon on Friday at
Crescent Grove Cemetery in Tigard. A memorial is planned for August at Diamond
Lake.
Mr. Elmer was born Dec. 24, 1907, in Glenwood, Wash., to
Peter and Regina Elmer. He married Wilma on April 29, 1933, in Portland.
As a youth, he worked for the Forest Service on a mule pack
train. He later worked in the trucking industry for 30 years. He retired in
1974.
Mr. Elmer was a member of the Odd Fellows.
He enjoyed being with his family, playing cards and watching
the Trailblazers. He also enjoyed outdoor activities.
Survivors include his son, Richard of Bend; four daughters,
Joyce Hyland of Milwaukie and Rebecca Arnold, Beverly Meyer and Barbara Borlen,
all of Bend; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 2
great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife and a daughter.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's
choice.

Elmer died May 31, 2003, at age 95.
Mr. Elmer was born Dec. 24, 1907, in Glenwood, Wash. He moved
in the early 1920s to Portland and was a dock foreman for Bend-Portland Truck
Service. He moved in 1997 to Bend. In 1933, he married Wilma Ferguson; she died
in 1996.
Survivors include his daughters, Joyce Hyland, Barbara Borlen,
Beverly Meyer and Rebecca Arnold; son Richard Jr.; 16 grandchildren; eight
great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Service held. Arrangements by Autumn in Bend.
