ROBERT E. MCMURRIN

     Services were held Monday, Jan. 7, at Gardner Funeral Home for Robert E. McMurrin of Lyle. He died in The Dalles Jan. 3. Mr. McMurrin was 66.
     He was born Jan. 20, 1927, in Seward County, Neb., to Elva Johanna (Dethoff) and Francis Charles McMurrin. He was raised in Nebraska, and joined the Navy during World War II.
     Mr. McMurrin married Nada D. Clark in Prosser Oct. 16, 1945. The couple settled in Lyle in 1949. He worked for 36 years at the mill in Klickitat. He was a member of the Lyle Methodist Church, the Columbia Grange and the Lyle Fire Department. He was a charter member of Lyle Lions Club and spent several years actively involved. He was "King Lion" for three years and during that time senior dinners were started in Lyle. The women's club also, was purchased during that time. His hobby was rock-cutting.
     Mr. McMurrin is survived by his wife Nada of Lyle; children Kathryn Graeme of Richland, Doris Nimela of Klickitat and Tim McMurrin of Dallesport; brother Donald McMurrin of San Diego; sister Dorothy Rose of Burley, Idaho; seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
     Rev. Leah Mikel was pastor at Monday's funeral. Burial was at Appleton Cemetery. Memorials in Mr. McMurrin's name may be given to Lyle Methodist Church or Lyle Lions Club's building fund.

     Robert E. McMurrin, 66, a resident of Lyle, died on Jan. 3 in The Dalles.
     He was born Jan. 20, 1924 in Seward County, Nebraska to Francis Charles and Elva Johanna (Dethoff) McMurrin.

     Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at gardner Funeral Home in White Salmon with the Rev. Leah Mikel officiating. Burial will follow at the Appleton Cemetery.
     Memorials may be made to the Lyle Methodist Church or Lyle Lions Club Building Fund.
