OLIVER T. KREPS

     Oliver T. “Chip” Kreps, local rancher who was raised in the White Salmon area, died March at his Gilmer Valley home. He was 54.

     He was born Nov. 24, 1933 to Russell and Marie (Wyers) Kreps in Hood River, Ore. He married Pat Frederick on Jan. 2, 1959, and they lived at Gilmer Valley since then. Besides serving two years in the U.S. Army, Mr. Kreps was a member of Mt. Adams Elks Lodge 1868, Washington State and Klickitat County Cattleman’s associations, a director of Klickitat Drainage District, and a vocational education advisor to Columbia High School.

     Survivors include his wife, Pat, of Gilmer Valley, mother, Marie Kreps of White Salmon; sons, Keith, Kris and Kelly, all of Gilmer Valley; daughter Jill of Los Angeles, Calif.; sisters, Marguerite Kayser of Centerville, Olga Jane Hecomovich of White Salmon and Mary Louise Shattuck of Toppenish; three grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Russell W. “Bodge” Kreps.

     Services for Mr. Kreps were held Monday, March 21, in the chapel of Gardner Funeral Home, White Salmon. The Rev. Arthur Dickie and Mt. Adams Elks Lodge 1868 officiated. Interment was in the Gilmer Cemetery.
