LUCY M. STEINDORF
Lucy M. Steindorf was born May 6, 1894, in Melrose, MN, and passed
away after a lingering illness in The Dalles General Hospital, The Dalles, OR,
August 28, 1969 at the age of 75 years.
She was baptized in the Lutheran faith in infancy. In 1913 she was
united in holy matrimony with Gustav Steindorf. The family moved to Klickitat
from Minnesota with the J. Neils logging and lumber operation in 1924. Here they
made their home and here she resided until her death. She was a member of Grace
Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her husband, Gustav M. Steindorf; one daughter,
May Coolidge, Klickitat; two brothers, Albert Becker, Libby, MT, and Joseph
Becker, Troy, MT; five grandchildren: Lucille Brown, San Francisco; Carl
Coolidge, Klickitat; Charles Coolidge Jr. San Francisco; Beatrice Hodges,
Klickitat and Joanne Brown, Goldendale; and 12 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted September 2 at Grace Lutheran
Church, Klickitat, Pastor Hugo Larson officiating with Knosher Funeral home in
charge. Interment was in the Appleton cemetery. Active pallbearers were Arthur
Shade, Anton Reiss, Gerald Olney, Allen McEwen, Gerhard Umlauf and Orville
Arney. Honorary pallbearers were: Dee Hubbard, Nels Linde, Richard Bales, Gerald
Stevens, Julius Maier and Albin Berglund.
