JULIA ELIZABETH MAIER
Julia Elizabeth Maier was born in Black River Falls, Wisconsin, on
July 15, 1867. At the age of five years the parents moved the family to
Portland, Oregon. She lived in Oregon for more than fifty years, and was married
in that state.
In 1919, with her family, she moved to Appleton, Washington, on a
farm; where she spent the next nineteen years. Later she was a resident of White
Salmon and Klickitat, Washington. While residing in Klickitat she suffered a bad
accident and for the last nine months had been living in Bingen with her
daughter, Mrs. Carlene Courtney. Grandma Maier was one week in The Dalles
hospital where she passed away April 16, 1946.
Julia E. Maier leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Ludwig Maier
and the following children: Mrs. Lulu Nagel, Percy J. Bales, Ethel C. Bales,
Julius Bales and Carlene E. Courtney. Eighteen grandchildren and twenty-two
great grandchildren; two brothers, Lou Jones, of Vancouver, Washington, and
Albert Jones, of Maplewood, Oregon.
Funeral services were held at Gardner's Funeral home April 20 with
Rev. Reynolds officiating. Burial at Appleton cemetery.
