J.D. CHRISTIAN PASSES AWAY OCTOBER 16TH

 

Jesse D. Christian, resident of Seabeck, Washington, passed away at Lyle, Washington on Oct. 16th, while hunting.

Jesse Daniel Christian was born February 10, 1896, the son of Rosa and Frank Christian. He came to the state of Washington with the family when he was nine years of age and they homesteaded in Glenoma, Washington in Lewis County. He farmed and worked in the woods during his younger years.

For a period of seventeen years he was with the Forest Service; retiring from that department in 1940. On December 6, 1940 he was united in marriage to Susie Elmer Burkell at Goldendale, Washington. He continued to farm for a few years, then purchased the Russell Grocery Store at BZ Corners in 1948. In 1953 he and his wife purchased the Pearson Store in Trout Lake, Washington.

Mr. Christian retired in 1961 and had been a resident of Seabeck, Washington since 1964. His wife, Susie, passed away September 21st of this year.

Surviving are his daughter, Rosa Bowers, Rose Haddock of Yacolt, Washington; a step-son, Tommy Burkell of Seabeck, Washington; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren; four step-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 1:30, Tuesday, Oct. 21st in Trout Lake, Washington at the Mt. Adams Larger Parish Presbyterian Church with the Rev. James P. McGugin officiating.

Interment was in the Trout Lake Grange Cemetery. Casket bearers were: Jimmie Sund, Dan Burdett, Robert Caryl, Ernie Childs, Phillip Tuthill and Lloyd Raught. Gardner's Funeral Home of White Salmon was in charge of arrangements.
