            George Orton passed away in White Salmon Saturday afternoon.  He had made his home in and around Lyle for a good many years.  The funeral services were held at the Lyle church and burial took place in the Hartland cemetery.  Rev. Ham of the Seventh Day Adventist church conducted the services.  Mr. Orton was 74 years old.  He leaves his wife and son, Walter, and four sisters in England, besides many friends to mourn his loss.

LYLE MAN DIES IN WHITE SALMON

            LYLE, December 14 – George Orton was born in Warwickshire, England, October 25, 1862 and passed away in White Salmon, December 12, 1936.  At the time of his death he was 74 years, 1 month and 17 days old.
            After leaving England he lived in Australia for a number of years.  He came to the United States to the state of Oregon, where he met and married Mrs. Hulda Mae Saxton.
            To this union three children were born, two of them dying in infancy and one son, Walter, who lives with his mother.  Mrs. Orton, one step–daughter, Mrs. Ben Woodie and three sisters in England besides his many friends that are left to mourn his loss.
            Mr. Orton was affiliated with the Adventist church in White Salmon where they held funeral services Monday morning at 10 o’clock.
            He was considered an honored member of his church Monday at 2 p.m. funeral services were held from the Lyle Community church and interment in the Hartland cemetery.
