Following five years of failing health and ten weeks' illness at a local hospital, George A. Yates, 82, died this morning there. Mr. Yates came to Vancouver three years ago to make his home with his son W.B. Yates, from Klickitat county, where he had lived for 33 years. He was a member of the Presbyterian church, and is survived by two sons, W.B. Yates of Vancouver, and C.C. Yates of Portland; and seven grandchildren.
Private cremation was held this afternoon in Portland, with Knapps funeral directors in charge.
