OBITUARY

            Ernest C. Smith was born August 14, 1870, in King county, Washington. He moved with his parents to Lyle, Washington, in 1881, being one of the pioneers of the Lyle section. He passed away in the hospital at The Dalles December 11, 1934, aged 64 years.
            Besides his widow he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Nora McCann, of Beaverton, Ore., and Mrs. U. F. Hylton of Lyle, Washington; and, three brothers, F. H. Smith of Scappoose, Ore., Elmer J. Smith of Cottage Grove, Ore., and Walter E. of Yakima, Washington.
            Funeral services were held at the Lyle Methodist church with the minister, Rev. Roy Jenkins, officiating. Interment was made In the Appleton cemetery.
