ANOTHER PIONEER CALLED

Elkanah B. Hylton, well known pioneer of Klickitat county, died suddenly on August 23 in Seattle while visiting at the home of his son, Byrd Hylton. He was born in Floyd county, Virginia, on December 3, 1847, and came to Klickitat county with his family in April 1893, settling at Lyle where he has lived ever since. His wife passed away a year ago at Lyle. Seven children survive him, Orpha, Ruth, Ulysses, Joseph, Adam, Byrd, and Nettie.
Mr. Hylton was a Baptist minister, was well known throughout the county, and had taken a most prominent part in activities of this section. He delivered the first 4th of July oration ever given in White Salmon, in 1902.
