CHARLOTTE McLEOD
Charlotte A. McLeod, a resident of Lyle, died April 14 at the age of 86.
Mrs. McLeod was born Dec. 3, 1895, in Horsham, Sussex,
England, to Mr. and Mrs. Trayton Burgess. She married George McLeod Oct. 17,
1917. They moved to Fisher Hill near Lyle in May 1924. There they raised
apples, turkeys and cattle.
She was confirmed in the Church of England and was a
member of Columbia Grange 87.
She is survived by her sons, William C. McLeod, Carson,
Howard F. McLeod, Eugene, Ore., and Gordon V. McLeod, Trout Lake; her daughters,
Etta O. Sina, Portland, and Ella C. Shebley, Carson; a brother, Alfred J.
Burgess, Epsom, England; two sisters, Hope Stoner and Elizabeth Potter, both of
Horsham, England; 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and four great
great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. McLeod were held Saturday at
2 p.m. at Gartner Funeral Home in White Salmon, with Rev. Bobby Joe Beauchamp
officiating. Interment was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Appleton.
