"Lyle Mourns Passing Of 'Grandma' Cox"

     The many friends of Mrs. R. Cox, or "Grandma Cox,"as she was a lovingly called, regret to learn that she passed away Sunday in the Klickitat General Hospital at White Salmon, where she had been for some time suffering with bronchial pneumonia. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the Lyle church with interment in the Appleton cemetery. Grandma Cox was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed not only by her children and grandchildren, but by all.

REBECCA ELLEN COX

     Funeral services were held last Thursday at one o'clock for Rebecca Ellen Cox, a beloved resident of Lyle, who died at White Salmon, June 14, after a short illness. She was born at Lebanon, Pennsylvania, September 12, 1858, the daughter of David and Elizabeth Waltz, and died at the age of 82 years, 9 months, 2 days.
     She was married to William W. Cox, October 2, 1879, at Winchester, Indiana, where they lived until 1904, when they came to Portland, Oregon. In 1905 they moved to near Appleton, Washington, where they resided until her husband passed away in 1932. In 1937 she moved to Lyle, where she stayed until the time of her death. She was a member of the Methodist church.
     She is survived by four sons: Francis M., of Hermiston, Oregon; David E., of Lebanon, Oregon; William R., of Pasco, Washington, and Walter M., of Portland, Oregon; two daughters, Mrs. Mary E. Groshong, of Trout Lake, Washington, and Mrs. Edith K. Pierson, of Hermiston, Oregon; twenty-two grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
     Services were held in the Lyle Methodist church, with Rev. J.W. Reynolds, of the Methodist church, of White Salmon, officiating, assisted by Rev. W.M. Donohew, of the Church of God, of Portland. Interment was at the High Prairie cemetery.
