FIRST BURIALS NAME CEMETERY

Many travelers past Underwood's cemetery have breifly puzzled over the name "Christ-Zada". Early in the century the Underwood family donated this site for a community burial ground.
In 1903 a serious epidemic of diptheria broke out, and two small girls, Christina Dark and Zada Larsen died during the outbreak. The names of the first two persons buried in the cemetery were coupled into Christ-Zada. The name has no religious significance.
Christina was the grandaughter of pioneer "Eck" Underwood, and Zada the little sister of Amos, Lewis, Frank and Aaron Larsen, Bingen and Olaf Larsen, Underwood Heights.
