The Hood River Glacier, Hood River, OR., February 16, 1905, page 2
"Editorial"

From accounts in Portland papers the Cascade county bill is the pivot around which the fate of all other legislation swings in the senate chamber. Jayne and the Hood River delegation are putting forth herculean efforts to secure the passage of the bill through the upper house. There are two days before the closing of the session Friday night, and mayhaps the "ponderous ponderosity" of Mr. Whealdon, the gentleman who owes his election to Hood River, will yet have to give way to the sledge hammer blows our people are getting in for the new county bill.
