Petition Circulators Report
The Sentiment is the Valley Is Strongly in Favor of County Division
A meeting was called at the Commercial club rooms Saturday
afternoon for the circulators of the petition for county division to meet
and report. The majority of them reported, and the results of their canvas
was very gratifying. Some reported that they had not met with a single refusal
to sign, and none of those who returned petitions had met with more than
a few refusals.
The sentiment is growing very strongly in favor of county
division, and many supporters are found among those who opposed the measure
before. There can be no question that the new county will be a benefit to
those who will live in it, for many reasons, and but few of the doubters
who have taken the trouble to investigate the matter, are still opposed to
the division.
The opposition to the measure has only appeared in isolated
quarters, and is having such a small following that but little attention
is being paid to it. The arguments against division are falling so far short
of those in favor of it, that the opposition is gradually going over to the
popular side, and signing the petitions for Cascade county.
Another meeting of the petition circulators will be held
at the club rooms Saturday afternoon, and it is hoped that everyone who has
a petition out will be present and report.
