Marie M. Jerred was born on March 5, 1908 in Parnell, Missouri, the
daughter of Joseph and Martha (Sell) Keever. She died on Saturday
July 8, 1995 at the Winner Regional Health care Center Nursing Home at
the ate of 87 years.
Marie spent her early years and received her education in the Colome,
South Dakota area. She was united in marriage to Harold Jerred on
February 21, 1928 at the Winner court House. They lived in Colome and
the surrounding area most of their lives, except for living in Oregon
and Washington for a short time. She worked all her life as a
housewife, devoting most of her time to her eight children. Harold
died on June 12, 1990 in Burke, South Dakota. Following his death,
Marie lived with her son Dennis, in Murdo, South Dakota for a few
years, before entering the Winner Nursing Home.
Marie especially enjoyed reading poetry, playing cards and writing
letters.
She is survived by eight children: Martha (Dick) Friedman of Eau
Claire, Wisconsin; Harold (Sally) Jerred of Auburn, Wyoming; Margaret
(Bill) Watters of Oneida, Tennessee; Lilliam (John) Tagart of North
Gleen, Colorado; Clayton (Donna) Jerred of Gillette, Wyoming; Doris
(Wilbur) Cogdill of Clovis, New Mexico; Ronnie Jerred of Springview,
Nebraska and Dennis (Lou Ann) Jerred of Murdo, South Dakota; 23
grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and 1 great-
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; one sister Beulah
and two brothers, Earl and Perry
