James Frank WAYLAND [Parents] was born on 23 Mar 1861 in , , Arkansas. He died on 13 Jul 1904. James married Flora Ella HUDGENS in 1880.
There is an article on Frank Wayland in the Izard Co. Historian (issue unknown), which I have a copy of, written by Otho E. Wayland Sr., 3944 Lawn Dr., Oklahoma City, OK 73115. It mistakenly has his ancestors coming over from Ireland in the 1840's. Otho is son of Frank Wayland. The article gives a very interesting background on this family. Ortho says that his father and the family lived on a farm near Cross Roads, Arkansas store and post office was located until 1914. On 24 Nov, 1914, started with a wagon train of five wagons to Oklahoma. Two of wagons were the Wayland family's. Frank was dead, and the family making the trip consisted of Ella, Robert, Claude, Minnie, Otho and Luther. Otho was age 13, and drove one of the wagons often. It took 16 days to get to McAlester, making 20-25 miles a day. They had a good squirrel dog and shot 2 or 3 squirrels a day for fresh meat. The horses and mules were not used to automobiles and they had trouble controlling them when they came to large towns, particularly Muskogee. They lived in McAlester through the winter of 1915, and then moved to Henryetta, OK. In the spring of 1917, they moved back to Arkansas. Robert and Claude drove the wagons back and the rest came back on the train. They had rented out their Arkansas farm, so rented another place and then sold their farm and bought the "Bill Brown" place, now known as the "Moody" place, as his mother sold it to a Mr. Moody in 1923.
Flora Ella HUDGENS was born on 1 Jan 1865. She died on 5 Aug 1945. Flora married James Frank WAYLAND in 1880.
Her father fought on the Union side of the Civil War, whereas her husband's father, George, fought on the South's side. Her father settled in Rodney area of Arkansas after the war. She was known as "Ella", and her picture is in the "Historian" article by her son.

He first married a girl with last name of Lane, a sister of Jeff Lane, who married Wash's sister, Alice. They had one child, with his wife dying soon after childbirth. He then married a girl named Sarah and moved to Henryetta, OK, where both Wash and his dtr. Odell died in a house fire in 1916. The info on all these family members is from an article in the "Izard Co. Historian" by Otho Wayland, one of the children.F ii Alice M. WAYLAND was born on 22 Jan 1883. She died on 22 Jan 1954.
Married Jefferson A. Lane and raised four boys and three girls. Were farmers and lived most of lives around Wild Cherry in Fulton Co., Arkansas.F iii Olivia Belle WAYLAND was born on 11 Sep 1884. She died on 22 Sep 1884. M iv William Henry WAYLAND was born on 11 Sep 1885. He died in Nov 1943.
Married Rosie Clark, but had no children. Was a farmer, merchant and trader and lived all of his life around Calico Rock.M v Steve F. WAYLAND M vi Theodore WAYLAND M vii Merve F. WAYLAND was born on 19 Jun 1890. He died on 20 Mar 1976.
Married Etta Faught and had 4 childlren. Etta and one dtr. died in 1918 in a flu epidemic. He farmed for some time in Arkansas and later moved to Oklahoma.
He died in Tulsa.M viii Robert F. WAYLAND was born on 18 Jan 1893. He died on 6 Jul 1971.
Married Nola Bunch and they raised four children. Farmed in Arkansas, later moved to Tulsa, OK, then to DeQueen, Arkansas where he died. Nolas and one dtr. still living in DeQueen at time of article. Had grandson, Gary R. Wayland, who wrote inquiry from Singapore, China.F ix Arra WAYLAND was born on 10 Apr 1895. She died on 29 Sep 1976.
Married Oscar Davis and lived most of their lives in Oxford, Arkansas, where they farmed. Raised one boy and six girls.M x Claude C. WAYLAND F xi Minnie W. WAYLAND was born on 15 Oct 1898. She died on 30 Nov 1975.
Married Frank J. Drown. Moved to Oklahoma City after World War I, and raised two children.M xii Otho E. WAYLAND was born on 23 Nov 1901. He died in Jun 1991.
Author of article in "Historian". Married Lillian Beatrice Partee and raised four children. Moved to Springfield, MO. in 1922 where Otho worked for the Frisco Railroad. Later moved to Tulsa, OK, and finally to Oklahoma City.
