Howard Hiram STAMPER [Parents] [scrapbook] was born on 23 Oct 1889. He died on 20 Oct 1959. Howard married Merle FINNELL on 26 Dec 1956.
Other marriages:MAHAN, Verna
WAYLAND, Lolah Ellen
Howard married Lo after first wife died. He had children by first wife, but none by Lo. He survived her. He was a millionaire, with many business interests. At one time he owned the third largest turkey farm in the U.S., and the largest pheasant farm and owned Banquet Foods, which marketed frozen dinners nationwide. Banquet was later bought out by a large concern. He also had the largest dairy in the county, processed eggs, etc. I remember touring his farms in his cadillac as a young boy, riding over the grassy hills. (Those cars in the late 1940's had a high ground clearance.). He was quite a fine Christian gentleman.
There is an advertisement in Dad's 1922 HS Year Book for the F.M. Stamper Co., advertising country butter. This was the company that he owned, named after his father, who founded it.
On the Christmas 1956 holiday, after Lo's passing that August, he wrote the following letter: "To All the Wayland Family... For nearly a half century, the Christmas period has always been a sad period for me, though it is supposed to be a merry one. At any rate it has alway recalled to me the most precious memories of my life, and today I just want to tell it to someone. While today all of you are away from Moberly, I still am with all of you in Spirit, and I wish for each of you the very best. Sincerely, Howard."
Also, there is an excellent websight for the STAMPER name by Kay Inman. She has done an excellent job collecting all STAMPER and STAMPS lines. The URL is:

R. Y. HUNKER was born about 1878. He married Mary WAYLAND.
In my trip to MO in Oct of 1980, I visited with a Mr. Hunker who then owned and operated the only general store in Roanoke, just south of Salisbury. He said that he was kin to the Waylands, but he didn't have time to talk. He was nice enough to carry me out to the Roanoke City Cemetery and show me William's grave. He told me that the Hunkers came to MO from Germany and said that the deed to his land has the name of "C. Wayland" on it. This is probably Cecil Wayland, who inherited the land from his father, William, who settled in Roanoke and had the first general store there.
Mary WAYLAND [Parents] was born about 1880 in Salisbury, Chariton Co., Missouri. She married R. Y. HUNKER.
