I am placing under this Walter the family found in the Jackson Township of Randolph Co. MO on the 1870 census, even though I have no evidence of a connection, as his age is right. He is listed on the census only as W.W. Terrill, age 27, b. MO. This census can be seen at:

My name is Forrest Peterson. I am related to the Terrills through my mother's side of the family. Her maiden name was Shoffner. I think I can provide some information to clarify some things regarding my ancestor, Walter Warder Terrill.
I have located him in the special census that was taken in 1890 for soldiers of the Civil War. He was listed as a Confederate Soldier, and enlisted Aug 1, 1861 and was discharged April 15, 1862. He attained the rank of 3rd Sergeant and was a member of Co. G, 3rd Mo. Infantry. This was a unit of the Missouri State Guard.
Walter Warder Terrill was known to friends and family as "Wat" for short. He was born March 28, 1842 near Moberly Mo. and died November 24, 1929 in Jacksonville, Mo. He and his wife Melissa are both buried in Union Cemetery east of Jacksonville.
The Terrills became linked to the Shoffner ancestry when Alice (Wat and Melissa's eldest child) married Isaac Clinton Shoffner.
