I received the below interesting email 2/00, but I could not place these. I wonder if the below William could have been a son of Micajah that was disowned and therefore not in his will that listed children (if that is where names came from). Frequently, children will be named after their uncles, their father's brothers:

"You have an extensive Terrill listing and I would love to be able to tie into it. I believe I am just one generation away from really opening up this lineage. However, I don't see where right now. My GGGgrandfather was a William Smith Terrill. He was born in Ky, in 1818. As a young man he moved first to Indian Territory, OK and married a girl who was part Cherokee. They lived in IT for a while and then moved on to Grayson Co., TX where I believe he died years later. I do not know who William S. Terril's parents were. I know that there were several Terrill's who had boys under the age of 10 during the 1820 Census. However, children's names are not listed, and a couple of these guys kind of disappeared. Because these families tended to use the same names over and over again I would like to give you the genealogy that I have so far so I hopes that something will ring a bell with you. I shoulld tell you that oral family history had it that William S. came from a prominent family (one story said his father was a doctor) and that he was disinherited because he married a mixed breed girl. Here is what I have on William S. Any help would be GREATly appreciated. I can take his cherokee wife's genealogy clear back to 1640. But I am stuck with William, possibly because of the inheritance issue. Thanks, SusanWilliam S. Terrill (b.1818, KY) m. Mary Ann Thompson (b. 1826, TN, d. 1871, TX)

Armistead TERRILL [Parents] was born on 14 Mar 1810. He died on 5 Jan 1870 and was buried in Utility Cem., Hancock Co., Kentucky. Armistead married Margaret.

Nothing is known of him. He is named as "Armsted" in his father's will dated September 1835. There is an Armstead Terrill b. 14 Mar. 1810, d. 5 Jan 1870 in Utility Cemetary, Hancock Co., Kty. Next to him is his son (so identified), James E. Terrill, b. 17 July 1841, d. 28 Mar 1862 (possibly in Civil War). There is not known connection, but Armistead is an unusual name. His mother would have been only about age 16 when he was born, however. I later found Ellsberry has a family listed under him in the 1850 Hancock Co. Kty. Census family #425, and have listed those children here, and wife.

Margaret was born in 1812. She married Armistead TERRILL.

They had the following children:

F i Mary Mildred TERRILL was born in 1832.
F ii Eliza TERRILL was born in 1834.
F iii Margaret TERRILL was born in 1836.

She is a possibility for this Margaret, but no evidence:

I am placing her as the oldest child as she was married to her second husband at the time of her father's will in 1835. Please compare with Mildred #2878.
