In the original database that I received from someone, this Solomon, b. abt 1770 was the son of Jeptha Terrell Sr., b. 1733 and Margaret Hockaday. I do not have him as a son of Jeptha with this dob and this wife and these children. It appears that the information that I have (on my Terrill page here) is more correct, as I received this email 10/99:

have enjoyed your Terrell/Terrill page. On the Solomon Terrell gedcom, there is an ENORMOUS error that is causing many problems. Solomon Terrell who married Elizabeth Campbell and died in Knox County, KY is NOT the son of Jeptha/Jeptho Terrell. This Solomon Terrell is my line and, after working on it for years, I agree that the Solomon son of Jeptha/Jeptho is the one who married Amelia Robertson and died in Wake County (the information is correct on your own Terrell page). If you could kill this erroneous piece of information, it would be much appreciated. I am a descendent of Jeptha Terrell through his daughter Obedience who married William Mays.

Sharon WithersI have therefore disconnected this man from Jeptha. There are a lot of lines down from his family and research needs to be done as to who his father really is. Since it is not my line, I don't have time to do it myself.
Sharon then wrote answering my question: "Do you know who is the father of the Solomon Terrell who m. Elizabeth Campbell?"
Gosh, I wish I did! I have worked and worked on this and still no answers. The first record of this Solomon as an adult is in Chatham County, NC in1797, when he purchases land on Brush Creek from his father-in-law William Campbell. Because of Solomon's location in Chatham County, I am assuming he was a grandson of John or Timothy Terrell, with Timothy being the more likely candidate. I am looking at Timothy's son Solomon as a possible father for this Solomon. We only know the name of two of Solomon's children Henry and Abijah Terrell, as they were bound out through the orphan's court. That doesn't mean they were the only children. If Solomon was an infant when presumed father Solomon, Sr. died, he would not have been bound out as that seems to have occurred when children reached the age of ten or so. His mother might have remarried, hence he would have never had to appear in orphan's court. My Solomon had sons Hezekiah and
Henry---John Terrell had a son named Hezekiah but I can't link him to my Solomon and Hezekiah appears to have died a couple of years before Solomon's presumed birth date. Then there is the following in

Sarah ? in Caroline County, VA but soon took up with Elizabeth Harrison. They were cited repeatedly by the Caroline County Court for adultery and placed under a bond not to meet. He fled the colony with Elizabeth and in 1749 Sarah was granted permission to take over John's estate in Caroline County, him having "fled the colony" with Elizabeth Harrison. Since he didn't divorce Sarah and probably had no way of knowing when she died (they had no children), he couldn't marry Elizabeth.
