Fowler Report gives his two children by Tempa as being Tempa and Electa.
The Fowler Report is by his descendants, who formed an organization known as the "Descendants of James Fowler" whose annual meetings are held in North Guilford, Durham and Middlefield. The report states that "The old house in North Guilford in which he passed the latter years of his life stood on the Middletown and Guilford turnpike, half way between the two points, and had been formerly used as a hotel. In those days it was owned by Col. Baldwin, and was known as 'Baldwin Inn.' Mr. Fowler died there May 6, 1854. He was a farmer, and in addition to agriculture carried on the manufacture of the 'Fowler whip lash,' well known in its day, which found a ready and extensive sale through New England and the state of New York. The lash was made from leather tanned by himself, and was honestly manufactured, his children worked at braiding the long thongs during the winter evenings. It was used chiefly in driving oxen and the business was fairly prosperous. Mr. Fowler was noted for his sound judgement, but chiefly for his absolutely incorruptible integrity. He was commonly called 'Honest James,' and was repeatedly called upon to appraise estates. In his home he was a strict disciplinarian, but just and kind. He was a firm believer in the teachings of Thomas Jefferson, ans always deeply interested in the success of the Democratic party, holding, from time to time various town offices. He was a capital shot and enthusiastic sportsman, and in his younger days devoted a considerable time to the pleasures of the hunt."

Anna JOHNSON was born on 17 May 1778 in Haddam, , Conn. She died on 16 Nov 1861 in North Guilford, CT. Anna married James FOWLER on 3 Sep 1804.
Anna was grandniece of David Brainerd, missionary to the Indians. Not confirmed, but quite possibly the descendant of John Johnson, who came to New Haven in the second ship in July, 1639. He died in 1681 and mentioned four children in his will: John, Ruth, Isaac and Abigail. There is also a Joseph Johnson who married Rebecca Pierson (born abt. 1654 in Branford), who may have been her ancestor. Deborah Ward (born abt. 1665) of Branford married a Eliphalet Johnson. There is a Peter Johnson, called a Dutchman, who sold his house in Boston in 1638 and was in Fairfield by 1649. His wife, Elizabeth, had a child, Moses, born in prison where she had been confined for some time. It is conjectured by Savage that she was insane; that the son Moses was a posthumous child, and that John Johnson (d. 1659) and Col. Ebenezer Johnson were also his sons. Another man who lived in the 1600's, Capt. John Tucker married first Mary Johnson of Hingham and then Hannah, widow of John Elton. Sarah Swaine (b. 7 Oct, 1661 Branford, dtr. of Samuel) married Thomas Johnson. All of the above references are from "History of The New Colony of New Haven" by Edward Atwater, pub. 1902, republished 1989 by Heritage Books.
