Samuel was born June 07, 1880 in New York City, oldest child of German

immigrants, Abraham and Gloria Goodman. "Sam" died September 13, 1960, in Dayton, Clark Co., Ohio. Gordon was born March 25, 1908 in Paducah, McCracken Co, Kentucky. He died June 01, 1971 in Dayton, Ohio.

7. OTHER COMMENTS: Samuel was a well-known merchant in Jasonville,

Greene Co., Indiana. In 1916 Sam won the amateur welterweight championship of Kentucky and later was boxing instructor at the YMCA in Louisville, KY. He was coach of the Jasonville, Indiana, Golden Gloves team that completed in Terre Haute, Indiana, every year. 

 I believe the photo was taken in Indiana. It belongs to Gordon Edward Greenwood, [email protected].

7. OTHER COMMENTS: daughter of Samuel Nathaniel Goodman and Maud Edna Armstrong Goodman. Annette married Arthur Greenwood in 1905. They are living in Jasonville, Greene Co., Indiana in 1999.

"I have an old wallet, embossed with the name "Joseph E. Goodman,

Philadelphia, Pa". Inside the wallet are photographs of Mr. Goodman,

some information on his military service during the Civil War, and a

letter from his grand daughter Bertha Goodman, postmarked Philadelphia,

March 6, 1919, to her father, Carlton M.Goodman in West Palm Beach,

Florida. It's a long story how these items came into my possession, but

suffice to say, the Goodmans are not related to me, and I would like to

see that these items find their way to someone who is.

Activity Occurring in Picture: Photo portrait of three men, each missing one leg. Joseph Ernest Goodman is presumably the one in the middle because of the uniform appears to be of the lowest rank of the three and the back of the photo indicates Goodman was a Sergeant and the two other men were Lt. Col. (Avery) or Captain (Greene).
