    Welcome to the Waldensian Family History/Genealogy Research home page. Sponsored by the Piedmont Families Organization, Inc. (PFO), its purpose is to show you how to find your Waldensian ancestors.

    We list practical steps to take in your research, and we describe key sources to use. And, if you get to a point where you cannot proceed on your own we suggest how to get help. Finally, we include a few other items of interest to Waldensian descendents: a brief historical sketch of the Waldensians, suggested readings, and the like.

    These pages will give you an introduction to the Piedmont Families Organization, a description of the notarial record extraction project we sponsor. There is a listing of family researchers and the Waldensian surnames they are researching. If you have Waldensian ancestors we would like to list your surnames too.

    We have included a list of Waldensian surnames, based on the book by Osvaldo Coisson, I Nomi di Famiglia delle Valli Valdesi (Collana della Societa di Studi Valdesi 8; Torre Pellice, 1975). A few additional surnames have been added, based on the notarial records.
