My dad was in the Army somewhere around 1913-1915 (not sure how long heenlisted for) and was stationed in Boston Mass area. I don't know hisrank but he was in the 9th Mine Company. He moved to Prividence R Iafter service and worked for the Narragansett Electric Co. Throughfriends he met my mother Melina Colle and they married in Nov 1916. After1918 they moved for a short while to Indiana and lived with his Motherand Father for a short time. They moved back to R.I. and went back towork for the Electric Company and retired when he was 65. In 1950 theymoved to Tampa, Fla. where he proceeded to build 2 small cottages out ofa long Army barracks building. He died in Nov 1970.
Melina Genieve Colle 1 was born 5 Aug 1893. She died 10 Jul 1981. She married Jesse Murray Barlow Nov 1916 in Jasper Co, Indiana.

Driven from his home by the injustice of his stepfather at the age of 15,William walked from North Carolina to Bartholomew Co, Indiana and settledthere in 1827. He started out with only 37 1/2 cents in his pocket. Hecommenced work for Solomon Stout, making rails, at 25 cents per 100 andafterward hired out to Mr Stout for one more year at a salary of $50.00.The next year he worked for Benjamin Barker, and received $58.00.Attention to business and adhering to his early deteermination to dosomething for himself, he rapidly accumulated a handsome property, andsurrounded himself and family with the comforts of life. In all businesstransactions he was honest and honorable, never allowing a debt to gounpaid and generally paying them before maturity. Politicaly, he was anOld Line Wig. In raising a family he was equally successful, and it is afact worth mentioning that none of his family were even know to useintoxicating drinks, smoke or chew tobacco or play a game of cards.
