This is the line from William Williams of Groton, CT that I descend from. I have a little information on the other families in this file and will be glad to share anything I have with others who are interested in this family. I. William Williams was born in Wales. His parents are not known. He married Arabella Thompson. Nothing is known of her family. William came to America in 1662 and settled in New London County, CT in 1663 in the area of what is now Ledyard. He served in King Philip’s War of 1675 - 1676.
William died in 1704 in New London County, CT. Groton Stone Records say “William Williams was buried in the town of Ledyard, on enclosed ground on Seth William’s farm 2 1/4 miles on the old Mystic or Shewville Road”. The administration of his estate was granted on 7 June 1704 to his son, Richard. The inventory of the estate was taken 6 June 1704 by John Morgan and Richard Packer.

II. Richard Williams was born about 1663 probably in Connecticut. He was married at Groton, New London County, CT on 9 January 1687/88 to Sarah Wheeler. She was the daughter of John Wheeler and was born in 1664 in London, England. Sarah came to New England with her father and lived with his brother in New London, CT.
Not much is known about Richard Williams. He was a Captain of Dragoons in 1690. He owned a piece of land in Stonington, CT which he sold to Thomas Bell in 1709 and he was living in Plainfield CT in 1713 where he had a grant of land. Richard died in 1733 at Groton, CT. His will was made 29 June 1733 and son, David was named executor.

3. David Williams was born 14 Aug 1692 at Groton, Connecticut. He was the son of Richard and Sarah (Wheeler) Williams. He was married 18 January 1721 at Groton to Experience Bailey.. Experience was the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Smith) Bailey. She was was christened 24 May 1698 New London County, Connecticut. David and Experience lived in Stonington and Groton, CT and in Plainfield, Hampshire Co. Mass. David died before 3 March 1762. Experience died in October 1781, age 80 years.

4. David Williams, Jr.was the son of David and Experience (Bailey) Williams. His birth has not been found. He was probably born in Groton, Connecticut about 1722. He was married to Amy Packer. She has been thought to have been the sister of Desire Packer who married John Burrows but this is not likely. She may be the daughter of Samuel and Mary (Williams) Packer, but if so, the birth date given (1732) could not be correct since Mary Williams was born about 1725 and would have been 57 years old in 1732. There is little known about this family
