In researching my Miller line, I have collected some information on the John Schmidt /Smith family and would like to share what I have with other researchers. I would like to find the parents and siblings of John Schmidt who is said to have come to America with his parents when he was about 5 years old. He supposedly had at least two brothers. 1. John1 Schmidt was born Abt. 1739 in Wurtemburg, Germany, ?, and died 1806 in Delaware Twp., Wayne, PA. He married (1) Margarette (_______). He married (2) Catherine Odenwalder 18 Dec, 1760 in Tohickon Ref., Church, daughter of Johan Odenwelder and Anna Rent.

Birth, marriage and death from Genealogy File, Easton Historical Society from information supplied from several individuals. Arrived in Philadelphia aboard the "Loyal Judith" with his parents (Johannes Schint/Schmit) and siblings in Sept. 1743. He was a cooper and a veterinary surgeon. He possibly served in the Revolutionary War under John Arnst, 1st Battalion, Northampton Co. Several persons have joined the DAR under this record, which may not be correct.

Died at Mt .Bethel after her father's will was proved 1795 and before her husband moved to Bushkill where he bought land of Manuel Hover in Delaware Twp., Wayne Co. PA in 1798. [ was sometimes called Barbara, or mistakenly taken for Barbara Schmidt, wife of her son, John. (Schmidt material from Northampton Co. Hist. Soc. says her mother [was] Anna Maria Rents.) Notes for Christine Schmidt: Named as fourth daughter in father's will. She may be youngest daughter but since she had had a child in 1802k she is more likely not the youngest.
