George Jones was born 29 June 1804 in Berks County, PA. (According to his age at death on his tombstone, his birth was in 1809, but since his first son was born about 1824, this is unlikely). He was the son of Carl "Charles" and Elizabeth (Geist) Jones . He was married about 1823, to Catherine Fulmer. She was born 7 October 1803 and died 23 Jan 1866. Her parents are not known. She was nearly thirty years younger than George according to the 1870 census.
George died 20 December 1879 at about age 75 in Richland Twp., Clarion County, PA. He died intestate with a personal estate of $1,275 plus two farms and two tracts of land in Salem Township totaling 175 acres. Eleanore Jones claimed to be the widow.
