USC NROTC Alumni League

Decade By-Laws

16 Sep 1996

It has become apparent to the Board of Directors of the USC NROTC Alumni League that a plan of organization be developed to provide for the perpetuation of the Alumni League. In order to accomplish this objective, Decade Groups will be established within the League.

The Decade Groups shall conform to the Objectives as established by the By-laws of the USC NROTC Alumni League. They shall include all commissioned USC NROTC officers and affiliate members based on the following years:

- 1. 1940 to 1949 Founders Group
- 2. 1950 to 1959 50s Group
- 3. 1960 to 1969 60s Group
- 4. 1970 to 1979 70s Group
- 5. 1980 to 1989 80s Group
- 6. 1990 to 1999 90s Group

Each member of the USC NROTC Alumni League shall be a member of a Decade Group and the applicable Decade shall be governed by their date of commissioning.

Each Decade Group shall provide support for the active USC NROTC program and will promote social and recreational activities for its members. Each Decade Group shall have a Decade Chariman and/or Decade Co-chairmen.

Responsibilities of a Decade Chairman:

1. Will be a member of the USC NROTC Alumni League Board of Directors.

2. Provide a common contact for the Decade members.

3. Organized the Decade Group and develop common interests.

4. Will be responsible for liaison with the Alumni League Board of Directors concerning the Decade Group activities.

5. Maintain list of Decade members.

6. Establish committees for support of the Naval ROTC active unit and relevant activities.

7. Try to find "Lost" members.

8. Organize annual luncheons or events.

To assist the Decade Chairmen in performance of their responsibilities, the Board of Directors of the Alumni League will provide the following:

1. Furnish the latest USC mailing lists, and mailing labels will be available upon request. Mailing lists are to be kept confidential by all members.

2. Prepare, organize, print, and mail, "The Log" news letter. Space will be available for each Decade Chairman to submit articles of interest, notices, and information.

3. Plan for the annual Founders luncheon that will include all Decade Chairmen.

4. Coordinate, plan, and organize Alumni League anniversary reunions.

5. Collect all Alumni League dues and maintain a record.

Addendum:

1. Member's degree dates may not coincide with commissioned dates; however, commissioning dates will establish the applicable Decade Group.

2. Some members may have degree dates missing and thus the commissioning dates shall prevail.

3. Decade Chairmen will coordinate their mailing lists with the Vice President - Members Chairman.

4. All Decade Chairmen will be listed on the Alumni League letterhead with appropriate Decade indicated.

5. An affiliate member shall be designated by the Board of Directors.

This is the end of the By-laws.

Updates: As of Sep 2002 meeting:

-All decade chairmen are now known as "Decade Officers" CO and XO.
