His death was reported in the USC Trojan Family Magazine - Vol 38, Nr 2 Summer 2006.
John H "Jack" Elser, 1948, of Mission Viejo, CA; Feb 18 of respiratory failutre at the age of 83.
He served in the Navy in World War II as a fighter pilot and was a retired Lieutenant Commander in the
Naval Reserve.
While at USC, he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon and was a cadet commander of the schools' Navy ROTC.
He worked 30 years as a negotiator of major contracts for the Parsons Company, an engineering and construction
firm in Pasadena, CA. Upon retirement, he served as the president, vice-president and chairman or all committees of the
South Orange County USC Alumni Club.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Gloria Schupp, son Jim, daughter Jill and three grandsons.
