USC NROTC MARINE OPTION REQUIREMENTS
General Requirements:

1. Complete all requirements for a bachelors degree in
accordance with University of Southern California standards.
2. Complete one semester of American Military Affairs/
National Security Policy.
3. Naval Science Courses:
++ NSC 135 Intro to Naval Science (2 credit hours)
++ NSC 137 Sea Power and Maritime Affairs (4 credit hours)
++ NSC 453 Naval Leadership and Management (3 credit hours)
++ NSC 454 Naval Leadership and Ethics (2 credit hours)
++ NSC 343 Evolution of Warfare (3 credit hours)
++ -NSC 392 Amphibious Warfare (3 credit hours)
4. Summer Training:
++ Sophomore: Career Orientation and Training (CORTRAMID)
++ Junior: Shipboard at-sea training - Marine enlisted
perspective
++ Senior: Officer Candidate School (OSC) - Bulldog Session
++ Commissioned: The Basic School (TBS)
5. Satisfactorily complete a physical examination as
certified by the Navy Bureau of Surgery and Medicine.
Service Obligation:
1. Commissionees are appointed as Second Lieutenant,
United States Marine Corps Reserve, and must serve a
minimum of four years active duty, plus four years
inactive reserve.
2. All commissionees must attend The Basic School,
Quantico, Virginia for 26 weeks prior to reporting to a
Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) School.
Applicant Profile:
1. Commissionees graduating with a bachelors degree
in any academic major are eligible.
2. Average cumulative GPA: 3.00
