THOSE VIRGINIA CARTERS
All material on all these pages are
copyrighted, please do not reproduce, copy, or distribute in any manner without
permission. We are all willing to share our work, but many hours and dollars have
gone into these records and all we would like is for each person to get the recognition
and the "say-so" how their line is treated. |

The Carter Society
Descendants of Colonial Virginians
There are many Carter families found in the colonial settlements of Virginia.
Two come to mind very quickly - Coloniel John Carter and his descendents and Captain Thomas Carter. It has NEVER been proved that they are kin, but Capt. Thomas is called "cousin" in the will of Coloniel John Carter. We still think that we will find the parents of our Job/Peter Carter in one of these lines. |
Thomas Carter Jr. & wife Arabella Williamson (son of Capt. Thomas Carter & Catherine Dale) had a son Peter, who married Judith Norris and had sons Job, Peter, & Solomon (to name some). They lived in Amherst Co., VA where Job & Peter died. They lived and died about the same time period of our people. We will find them mentioned as having served in the Revolution, etc. but they are NOT our Job and Peter Carter - remember they come from Amherst Co., VA.
WILL - THOMAS CARTER, JR - WITNESSED BY A JOB CARTER
LAWSUIT - TILLET ESTATE vs JOB & PETER vs JOB
LEASE - Peter Carter / Thomas Ludwell Lee
