Welcome to my humble genealogy page! I have divided this site into two main sections - my mother's side (mainly Tom and Thompson surnames), and my father's family (mainly Holding, Truax and Jaques surnames). I have also made significant headway on several branches of my husband's family (Smith, Stewart, March, Warwick, and Gore-Booth).

Please note that I have mainly included only direct ancestors and their siblings, which is only a small portion of what I have on file (I don't have that much server space!). For more information on the Truaxs, please check the website of the Association of Philippe du Trieux Descendants.
I have compiled some biographical data on a few notable ancestors of mine and my husband's:
- The Gore-Booths - the family of my husband's great-great-grandmother... from the wrong side of the sheets!
- Andrew Thompson - my great-great grandfather on my mother's side, who immigrated to Canada during the Great Famine
- Rev. John Mears - a circuit Methodist minister in turn-of-the-century Ontario
- Philippe du Trieux - the progenitor of the Truax and Truex families
- Maria Truax - Philippe's eldest daughter who, while not a direct ancestor of mine, was a remarkable woman and has a story worth repeating
- Abraham J. Truax - the founder of one of the larger Canadian branches of the family, who may or may not have been a Loyalist
- Isaac Jacob Truax - Abraham's brother, who stayed in New York but managed to make lots of trouble anyway.
- William Archer Truax - my great-great-grandfather's brother, who was murdered in a bar-room brawl in Quebec
- Albert Truax - my great-grandfather, a Methodist minister who was expelled from the church for heresy in 1894
- Garnet Truax - my great-uncle, who was one of the original settlers in Beaverlodge, Alberta
- Christopher Jaques - the earliest known member of my great-grandmother Margaret Jaques' family from northern England, plus some fun family legends about a lost fortune...
- John Freeman - one of my provable Loyalist ancestors, whose farm was the site of the 1st. Battle of Saratoga in 1777.
- Walter Scott - another Loyalist ancestor (now official!), who was imprisoned by the Rebels for refusing to take part in their revolution.

I recently came into posession of some very old photographs of the family of Martin Truax and Catherine Gowman of Leamington, Ontario which I could use some help in dating and identifying.
