Collection of photographs from an album
given to Dr. Jay D. Andrews by Anne Dilley, widow of Condit Dilley.
Condit Dilley was the only son of Thomas Anderson Dilley, son
of William Dilley and Mary Axtell Dilley.
Collection graciously submitted by
Judy Dilley Mooers.
Dr. Andrews permitted Judy to scan these images to share with
Dilley researchers. Thank you Judy!
Captions included with each photo were
also done by Judy. Judy states "Most of the photographs that
I have sent were taken in Illinois. Most of the individuals pictured
moved from Illinois to Kansas around 1880. This whole crowd moved
from western Pennsylvania to western Illinois in about 1840".

Mary was born Aug 17, 1814 in Mercer
Co., PA, wife of William Dilley

Eunice Axtell DILLEY
Eunice was born May 22, 1823, second
wife of William Dilley and half-sister of Mary Axtell

Samuel DILLEY
Samuel was born May 1, 1818 in Mercer
Co., PA, brother of William Dilley. He was a preacher and died
in Partridge, KS. He was married to Belinda Axtell, a cousin of
Mary Axtell's.

Mary Jane DILLEY GORDON
Mary Jane was born Feb 28, 1853 in
Warren Co., IL, daughter of William and Mary Dilley. She married
James Gordon.

Margaret DILLEY
Margaret was born May 7, 1841, daughter
of William and Mary Dilley. Also in this picture is Margaret's
husband, Josiah Everett.

Caroline Ruth DILLEY
"Carrie" was born Feb 1,
1845, daughter of William and Mary Dilley. Also pictured is her
husband, Niles Hitchcock, and their three oldest children, Wilfred,
Mabel, and Miriam.

Freeman DILLEY
Freeman was the son of John Dilley,
born 1814, brother of William Dilley. Freeman and his brother,
Ira Dilley, remained in Illinois after the William Dilley clan
moved on to Kansas.

Pliny AXTELL
Pliny was born Aug 14, 1829, half-brother
of Mary Axtell. He is not a Dilley, but he was the leader of the
group that moved from Illinois to Kansas in the 1870's.
