Hello,
My great-grandmother was Alice Laura Dilley and as far as I now she was born and raised in Minnesota. She married James Martin Hansen. I spoke with my great-aunt yesterday, Alice Dilleys' daughter, and she did not know the names of Alice Dilleys' parents.
Does anybody have an Alice Laura Dilley in their family research? I would appreciate any information that could lead me in the right direction.

My Dilley list is the same as Teddy Noye's because we are both descended from Deriah Dilley's daughter Sarah Ann and Asahel (or Asabel...spelled differently in different sources) Bennett through their daughter Martha, born 1848 in Mineral Point, WI. In 1849 the Bennetts and Deriah Dilley started for California with a wagon train. The Dilley sons, Stuart and Stephen, remained in WI, but Fisher S. was in California in the 1860's, where he and Deriah registered as voters in 1866.
Martha married Johan Johansen (from Denmark), later known as John Johnson.
Their eldest child, Josephine, is the mother of my own mother and of Teddy's grandfather. It would be great to find out what happened to Sarah's brothers and any descendants of theirs.

I posted this information soon after subscribing so if it is redundant, I apologize but I figured if the list has grown significantly since that time then maybe some recent subscribers may have missed it.
I am a descendent of John Dilley (b1645, Boston MA?) who moved to Woodbridge, NJ sometime around 1670. Some reports claim that John was the son of George Dille of Riverstown Ireland who died on a sea voyage. This is one 'family legend' I'd like to see resolved. His son John was married to Sarah. Some reports claim she is Sarah Woodbridge, daughter of the Reverend John Woodbridge. Can any one verify this claim? Anyway, their son Jonathan Hamal Dilley (1684-1733) was married to Hannah Alston/Elston (1686-1723). I am looking for information on Hannah's ancestry. Their son was Aaron Dilley (1721-?) who was married to Hannah Perry. I am also looking for information on this Hannah's ancestry. Aaron moved to the New Germantown (now Oldwick) area of Hunterdon County NJ sometime before the Revolution. Their son was Aaron Dilley #2 (b1746) who was married to Cornelia, last name unknown. Their son was Aaron Dilley #3 (1776-?) who was married to Mary, last name unknown. Their son was Aaron Chester Dilley (1807-c1880) who was married to Sarah Ann Shurts (1811-c1886). Finally, their daughter was Mary Catherine Dilley (1838-1911) who was married to Philip Thorpe. Mary and Philip are my GGG grandparents. All of these folks continued to live in the New Germantown area. As you can see, I need a lot of help with the ancestry of my Dilley wives. Any help filling in some of these holes would be greatly appreciated.

While looking thru my notes to make the Roll Call, I was reviewing the 1850 Iroquois Co. IL page that I photocopied showing my ancester. I spotted a Charles F. Dille, age 21 (born in Ohio) living in the household of James Burnd (or Burnt). James' wife is Mary A., age 23 and born in Ohio - possibly her maiden name was Dille? They show two children Albert, age 6 b. in IL and possibly Samuel H, age 3 b. in IL.

Trying to find a connection to Bell(e) Dilley (not sure of spelling either). All of my facts on her are not verified--but I'm trying! I have her as born 1848 in Cowanshannock Twp, Armstrong Co, PA, died in 1905, buried in Calhoun Cemetery, Armstrong Co. (I have seen the actual tombstone.) Somewhere I heard her father was William. She was married to Charles Moore (1843-1918). They had four children:

I have plenty of information on Alexander and Barbara Renkenberger Dilley's family, both their descendants and ancestors. Alexander and Barbara were married in Columbiana Co., OH, in October 1834, and they spent most of their married life in Bazetta Twp., Trumbull Co., Ohio. Their children were Aaron, George, Jonathan, John H,, Ambrose, Mary, and Charlotte. Mary married George Washington Weir Jr., and Charlotte's husband was a Kyle.
I'd be interested in hearing from anyone who might be related to this family.

Our Susan A. was born approx. 1858 where is unknown, she married William J. Johns approx. 1871+. The family was in Montgomery county, Texas by 1872-73. William was working on the railroad there and the family stayed there for the next 40 years or so. (Some are still there). However the info we have from 1880 Texas census says she was also in Alabama. Any help out there???

I do not know much about my Betty Dilley. Betty Dilley was born about 1724 probably in MA and died 24 Apr 1817 Mt. Tabor, Rutland County, VT. Married 11 May 1749 Middleborough, MA to Reuben Washburn b. about 1721 MA, died between 1759/1765 Plymouth County, MA.
Children of Reuben and Betty:
Seth Washburn b. 2 Aug 1751, d. 1799, m. 22 Jul 1772 Elizabeth Dunbar.
Reuben Washburn, Jr. b. 18 Jul 1750 m. Dorcas ???.
Isaiah Washburn b. 27 Nov 1754, d. 1840, m. 20 Jul 1775 Priscilla Wood.
Vol. 5 of the Five Gen. Mayflower Family book, pg 136/7, it says that Reuben her 1st husband, who was in the French & Indian Wars, died by 30 Jun 1757, when Betty was admitted to full communion in the Baptist Church of Elder Isaac Backus at Middleboro. Betty married Seth Billington and one know child was Frederick, b. 3 Jun 1769. Both Betty and son Frederick show up in the 1800 census for Rutland, VT and Betty Billington d. in Mt. Tabor, Rutland Co., VT 24 Apr 1817, age 87.

No, that Thompson Dilley is not familiar to me.
I guess I should try to explain - My Thompson Dilley (1) 11/2/1763-3/24/1824 lived in NJ and then Trumbull Co, OH - moved there after brother Cornelius gave/sold him some land.
My Thompson Dilley (2) 1832-1912 - was born lived and died entirely in Trumbull Co. He was a grandson of the original Thompson (1).
There are several other Thompson Dilleys that I know of. All were probably descendants of my Thompson (1), and I know that there were some in Ruth and Jerry Dilley's line that moved on to Illinois and Wisconsin. Thompson Dilley (1) is the last generation that Jerry and I have in common. Have you asked Ruth about the Iowa CO. WI Thompson Dilley? I'll bet she could help you figure out whether there is some kind of connection!

In 1799 Elders Daniel Axtell (my GGGG grandfather), David Condit, and Ithiel Dodd established the Fairfield Presbyterian Church, the first Presbyterian church in Mercer County; it continues to function in the countryside to the present and is celebrating its bicentennial this year. Daniel Axtell died in 1826 at age 78 and is buried in the church cemetery along with his wife Ruth, who died five years later at age 81. Their granddaughter, Mary Axtell (1814-1886), married my GG grandfather William Dilley (1811-1897), who had been born in Mercer County. William Dilley was the son of Lewis Dille (1786-1863), who is also buried in the Fairfield Presbyterian Church cemetery.
Lewis Dille was the son of Price Dille (1754-1826) and Sarah (Cooper) Dille (1758-1817). They are buried in the Plain Grove Presbyterian Cemetery, Mercer (now Lawrence) County, PA. The inscription on Sarah's sandstone gravestone has been nearly eroded away, so I hope to have a replica cut when I visit next month (financial contributions from descendants for this purpose will be appreciated).

I'm kind of new to this and have spent most of my time tracing my Jesionek line, but my mother Genevieve Dille's father was Charles Dille of the Mt. Victory, Ohio line. I understand there is a whole graveyard full of Dille ancestors there and I hope to visit soon. Charles was a son of one of the 4 biblically named Dille's that came from either Virginia or West Virginia. All I know is that they may have also been landowners in Marietta, Ohio according to some land records I've seen. I've been watching for a connection to come up, but haven't had time to investigate.

This information was compiled from DAR,LDS and published sources, notably History of Hanover Township by Henry Blackman Plumb, 1885. There are what I assume is the usual number of gaps in this history. Other than names or dates I cannot find out much about what these people did. Even though they were in Luzerne, PA forabout 100 years and there is a Dilley's Hill cited in the town of Wilkes-Barre there is little historical information about them. I am particularly curious about the death of James Dilley (#9) my ggfather. When she was young my mother asked her dad (James W. Dilley,#10) about him and was informed that he was the Unknown Soldier of the Civil War. He also told her that her other grandfather was the Pope so I have my doubts on this. If anybody does have information on\ any of these folks, I would appreciate getting it.
