Theodore "Theo" Moorkamp was born February 1826 in Oldenburg, Germany. In Germany, he was a farmer and a shoemaker. Theo married his first wife Catherine Kluemper about 1855 in Oldenburg, Germany. She was born about 1822 in Germany. As for either of their parents, I have no information. Theo and Catherine were the parents of at least three children. They were: Johanna (1856), Gerhard "George" (1858), and Elizabeth (1859). Early September 1864, Theo and Catherine and their children went to the port in Bremen, Germany. They boarded a ship named "New York" with the destination of the USA. The ship "New York" and the Moorkamp family arrived in New York Harbor on the 25 October 1864. They were living in Cincinnati, Ohio by late 1866. Where and when Theo's wife Catherine passed away is unknown. She more than likely passed away before arriving in Cincinnati. My search of local Cincinnati records would so indicate. This did leave Theo with his three children to raise. They established residance in Cincinnati, Westside of town. And were members of St. Anthony Church, at 1119 Budd St. Some of the residance were 518 W. Front St., 26 Donnersberger St., and South East corner of 7th & Carr St. During Theo's entire life in Cincinnati he would work his trade as a shoemaker. Theodore Gerhard Moorkamp became a Naturalized Citizen of the United States of America on 13 May 1874 in Hamilton County, Cincinnati, Ohio. Theo would marry his second wife Elizabeth (Weding) Wedemeyer. They were married on 15 August 1880. The unique thing about this marriage is that they were already family since Theo's daughter Johanna was married to Elizabeth's son Frank Wedemeyer three years earlier. Theo and Elizabeth did not have any children together. After spending the next 15 years together, Theo passed away at the age of 68 years and 11 months on 22 January 1895 of apoplexy (stroke)
