Welcome to our Heinrich "Henry" Kruse and Maggie Frank Family Page! Heinrich "Henry" Kruse was born in "Linsburg" Husum, Nienburg, Hanover, Germany on December 25, 1845. He was the third child of Wilhelm Kruse Sr. and Maria Dorothea "Sophia" Reinhardt. He had at least four siblings. Marie "Mary" (1837); Frederick (1841); William Jr. (1847); and Dorothea (1857). Henry at the age of twenty-one departed Bremen, Germany and arrived in Baltimore, Maryland on September 2, 1867. His final destination was Sedamsville, Cincinnati, Ohio. His sister Mary and her family were on that voyage. The name of their ship was called "Schiller". Henry married his first wife Louisa Fischhoffer in Germany. Louisa was born in "Buren" amt Nienburg, Hanover, German on January 1, 1844. They were the parents of seven children. Five of their children did not survive infancy. -- Emile Nina who lived 7 Months died of cramps; -- Infant male who was stillborn; -- William who was 1 year, 6 months died of pneumonia; -- Henry William who was 1 year, 3 months died of diphtheria; and Fritz who died at 4 months. The two surviving children were: -- Mary who was born in late 1867 or early 1868 in Linsburg, Husum, Hanover, Germany. She married a John Gephart living most of their life in Elmwood Place, Cincinnati, Ohio and were the parents of at least one male child. -- Amelia Dorothea "Mollie" who was born on January 27, 1876 in Sedamsville. She married a C. Henry Wiehe living their lives together in Riverside, Cincinnati, Ohio and did not have any children. Henry's first wife Louisa, at the age of 37 years, passed away on February 27, 1881 giving birth to their seventh child Fritz. She was buried in Walnut Hills cemetery on March 2, 1881. On October 25, 1881, Henry married his second wife Margaret "Maggie" Frank at St. Martini Church of Christ (German Lutheran) in Sedamsville. Maggie was born in "Weil", Schonbuch, South of Stuttgart, Providence of Wurtemburg, Germany on April 11, 1860. She was the first born child of Johan "John" Michael Frank and Margareth "Maggie" Koenig. Maggie had five other siblings. Charles J. (1862); William (1870); "John" Jacob (1873); Frederick "Fred" George (1878); and one unknown infant. Maggie's family came to America between 1863 and 1866. Her family would have consisted of both her parents and her brother Charles. She grew up on Delhi Pike, Sedamsville, Cincinnati, Ohio. Maggie gave birth to one child before she married Henry. -- Caroline "Carrie" Leonore [Frank] was born on May 26, 1880 in Sedamsville. She married a Franklin Blair Westerfield. They lived most of their lives together in Price Hill, Cincinnati, Ohio and were the parents of one child. Henry and Maggie were the parents of at least seven children. Two of their children did not survive infancy. The other five surviving children were: -- Edward Charles who was born on February 16, 1882 in Sedamsville. He married a Estella Mae "Stella" Ross living in Sedamsville in their early years and the rest of their lives together in Riverside, Cincinnati, Ohio. They were the parents of six children. -- William Carl who was born on August 21, 1883 in Sedamsville. He married a Stella Roell living their entire life in Sedamsville and they did not have any children. -- Emma Elizabeth who was born on July 31, 1887 in Sedamsville. She was married on three separate occasions. Karl Housener who passed away and a Frank Hall which ended in a divorce. In both of these marriages, they lived in the Riverside area. Her third husband was a Charles Kahl living most of their life in Covington, Kentucky. Emma did not have any children. -- Joseph Harry who was born on February 5, 1890 in Sedamsville. He married a Cora Shambaugh living in the Riverside area and in later years they moved to St. Mary's, Ohio. They were the parents of three children. -- Harry J. Carl who was born on November 16, 1894 in Sedamsville. He married a Vera Schaefer living most of their life in the Riverside area and in later years they lived in the Village of Cheviot, Ohio. They were the parents of three children. Henry's occupations were as a farmer, a day laborer, a finisher and a teamster (driver). Most of his work involved construction. This may have included the Manhatten Park development in Sedamsville. Henry and Maggie lived their entire life together in Sedamsville. Mostly on Delhi Pike and then Henry's last five years of life on West Sixth Street, Manhatten Park. Henry and his family were members of St. Martini Church of Christ (German Lutheran) in Sedamsville. Henry died on February 27, 1904 at the age of 59 years and 2 months. Diarrhea was the cause of death. On March 24, 1904, he was buried in Walnut Hills cemetery, Cincinnati, Ohio. After Maggie's husband Henry passed away on February 27, 1904, she remarried. Her second marriage was to a Joseph H. Klanke (about 1905). They lived the rest of their lives on River Road in Sedamsville. Most of Maggie's descendants remembered her as either Grandma Klanke or Maggie Klanke. She also is remembered for being a very straight laced woman. Especially on the proper way a teenage girl should conduct herself with boys. Maggie died on November 9, 1929 at the age of 69 years, 6 months, 28 days. Cerebral hemorrhage was the cause of death. On November 12, 1929, she was buried next to her first husband Henry Kruse in Walnut Hills cemetery. Her second husband Joseph Klanke passed away on March 7, 1940 and is buried in his mother's (Anna) lot in St. Mary's cemetery, in St. Bernard, Cincinnati, Ohio. Joseph always was very close to the family. He was always called Grandpa Klanke and he graciously excepted this roll.
