First Generation

JAMES McFARLIN married {---} and lived in Cayuga County, New York, then moved his family to Medina County, Ohio, in 1819.

Second Generation

MERENA McFARLIN born March 9, 1811, Cayuga County, New York, married 1829, Medina County, Ohio, JOSEPH WILLEY born February 5, 1804, Pennsylvania, (son of SAMUEL WILLEY and Mrs. MANNING) occupation Farmer, died January 23, 1858, near Wheeler, Indiana (Cause -- probably appendicitis; ill about 30 hours). MERENA died October 27, 1896, Mount Ayr, Indiana.

i MARTHA (Mattie or Aunt Mat) MERENA WILLEY born January 22, 1830, Medina County, Ohio. MARTHA died October 27, 1896, Mount Ayr, Indiana (Cause -- cancer).
ii CHARLES WILSON (CHARLEY) WILLEY born February 1, 1832, Medina County, Ohio. CHARLES died January 24, 1918, near Columbus, Kansas.
iii JOHN WILLEY born January 9, 1834, Medina County, Ohio. JOHN died January 20, 1864, in a hospital in Michigan City, Indiana (Cause -- typhoid pneumonia).
iv MARY SAMANTHA WILLEY born February 1, 1836, near Wheeler, Indiana. MARY died January 19, 1917, near Columbus, Kansas (Cause -- progressive helplessness from rheumatism).
v CAROLINE (Carrie) ALMINA WILLEY born August 6, 1838, near Wheeler, Indiana. CAROLINE died September 9, 1885, Delicon Springs, Florida.
vi JOSEPH HANFORD WILLEY born November 23, 1840, near Wheeler, Indiana. JOSEPH died August 22, 1930, Plymouth, Indiana (Cause -- senility, heart failure).
vii SARAH JANE (Jennie) WILLEY born October 10, 1842, near Wheeler, Indiana. SARAH JANE died April 28, 1923, Mount Ayr, Indiana (Cause -- recurring stomach ailment which had troubled her for years...short illness).
viii (infant boy) WILLEY born 1844, Porter County, Indiana, died after three days.
ix WILLIAM (Will) HENRY WILLEY born June 25, 1846, near Wheeler, Indiana. WILLIAM died December 14, 1898, near Parsons, Kansas (Cause -- leakage of the heart, results of army service).
x THOMAS ELDRIDGE WILLEY born January 30, 1849, near Wheeler, Indiana. THOMAS died August 4, 1906, Renssclaer, Indiana.
ix ALMIRA ESTELLA (ELMYRA) WILLEY born July 8, 1852, near Wheeler, Indiana. (In the 1930s, lived in Waupun, Wisconsin, with her son, Boyd.)

Third Generation

JOHN WILLEY born 1834, Ohio, occupation Farmer, married in the spring of 1856, in Porter County, Indiana, DELPHINE (Dell or Delphie) OREM. She was born August 18, 1841, Porter County, Indiana, and died January 29, 1887, near Black Oak, Missouri (Cause -- violent pnoumonia and heart failure; ill two days).
JOHN was a Union soldier in the Civil War. He died of typhoid pneumonia in a hospital in Michigan City, near the end of the war, after taking a leave to attend the New Years Eve double wedding of his sisters, Carrie and Jennie. He walked through sleet and freezing rain to get back to his army camp, and died on January 20, 1864. A widowed DELPHINE moved to Missouri with her three small children, and eventually remarried.

ii ELDRIDGE JOSHUA WILLEY born January 15, 1859, Porter County, Indiana. ELDRIDGE died March 18, 1930, Perryton, Texas (Cause -- pneumonia and complications).
iii MARTHA (Mattie) MERENA WILLEY born June 14, 1860, Porter County, Indiana. MARTHA died January 14, 1940, Greeley, Colorado (Cause -- cerebral hemorrhage).
iv JOSEPH MALVUREN WILLEY born February 8, 1862, Porter County, Indiana. JOSEPH died December 11, 1929, Corpus Christi, Texas (Cause -- cerebral hemorrhage). Buried at Bridgeport, Oklahoma.

Fourth Generation

JOSEPH MALVUREN WILLEY born February 8, 1862, Porter County, Indiana, occupation Farmer, married July 3, 1880, Black Oak, Missouri, HARRIET PHILLIPS, born April 20, 1864, Missouri, and died January 16, 1905, Bridgeport, Oklahoma. HARRIET'S father was killed by the 'bushwackers' during the Civil War--he was dragged out of the house and murdered in the front yard in front of his wife and children. JOSEPH died December 11, 1929, Corpus Christi, Texas (Cause -- cerebral hemorrhage). Buried at Bridgeport, Oklahoma.

i. MABEL WILLEY born March 31, 1881, Black Oak, Missouri. MABEL died February 21, 1934, Braymar, Missouri (Cause -- flu and pneumonia).
ii. JOHN B. WILLEY born January 19, 1885, Black Oak, Missouri.
iii. IDA MYRTLE WILLEY born February 1, 1886, Black Oak, Caldwell County, Missouri. MYRTLE died December 13, 1954, Torrance, L.A. County, California, buried San Pedro, L.A. Co., CA.
iv. ALBERT JOSEPH WILLEY born January 12, 1888, Black Oak, Missouri.
v. MARTHA E. WILLEY born May, 1890, Missouri.
vi. SUSAN DELPHINA WILLEY born July 14, 1892, Cowgil, Missouri. Aunt DEL lives in a nursing home in Sapulpa, Oklahoma (Nov. 15, 1998).
vii. GRACE WILLEY born February 27, 1894, Cowgil, Missouri, married ca 1916, JESS RUSSELL. Lived in Perryton, Ochiltree County, Texas. JESS had an auto dealership in Perryton, Texas.
viii. VIVIAN WILLEY born August 13, 1897, Black Oak, Missouri.
ix. CHARLES M. WILLEY born August 11, 1900, Bridgeport, Oklahoma. CHARLES died October 1, 1918, Nashville, Tennessee (Cause -- flu).
x. WESTLEY WILLEY born August 1897, Missouri, married a widow, PEARL {---}. WES was an engineer who helped design numerous bridges in the western states, and worked on the design of Disneyland, in Anaheim, California. WES and PEARL lived their last years in the Santa Ana Heights area of Costa Mesa, Orange County, California. WES died in Costa Mesa soon after 1969.

Fifth Generation

IDA MYRTLE WILLEY born February 1, 1886, Black Oak, Caldwell County, Missouri, married April 11, 1905, in Clinton, Custer County, Oklahoma, JOSEPH HORN HALSEY, born November 21, 1881, Viola, Sedgwick County, Kansas, (son of ANDREW McMILLAN HALSEY and SUSAN FRANCES WYATT). JOSEPH died December 14, 1957, Los Angeles, California, buried December 17, 1957, San Pedro, L.A. Co., California.

GRANDPA JOE lived with his son, JOE, and his family in Costa Mesa, California, in his later years, and enjoyed spending the weekends with his brother, BURD (Burgess), who lived in a very large house with a full width front porch, on St. Andrews Place, in the Wilshire District of Los Angeles. They loved to play checkers and Chinese checkers for hours at a time on the veranda. They had just finished a spirited game -- Grandpa Joe won, and he leaned back in his chair in laughter. That moment, he had a massive heart attack and died before help arrived. He was 76 years old. MYRTLE died December 13, 1954, Torrance, L.A. Co., California, buried December 16, 1954, San Pedro, L.A. Co., California. GRANDMA MYRT developed throat cancer from a lifelong addiction to smoking, and was also quarantined in a TB hospital in Torrance, California, at the time of her death. It was a slow and painful suffering for the dearest person I ever knew. She was 68 years young.

i. ANDREW RAYMOND HALSEY born August 2, 1907, Butler, Custer County, Oklahoma, married ca 1945, MABEL LORENA JACKSON. RAY and MABEL still reside in Perryton, Texas, where they reared one son.
ii. JOSEPH LeROY HALSEY born January 23, 1923, Booker, Ochiltree County, Texas, married November 14, 1942, in Groom, Carson County, Texas, MARY ELLA (FAYE) SULLIVAN, born March 21, 1924, Beggs, Okmulgee County, Oklahoma, (daughter of EMMIT WESLEY SULLIVAN and ADA MAE SHIPLEY). FAYE died April 23, 1973, West Covina, L.A. Co., CA, buried April 26, 1973, Forest Lawn, Glendale, L.A. Co., CA. JOE died April 16, 1969, Los Angeles, CA, buried, April 19, 1969, Forest Lawn, Glendale, L.A. Co., CA.
JOE and FAYE lived in Southern California where they reared three daughters.
