"MRS. SARAH COX

Mrs. Sarah Cox died at her home on Green street in this city Saturday
night from a general break down because of her age.  She was 82 years
and 9 months of age.

The funeral services were held from the Harley school house Sunday,
conducted by Reverend H I Dolson and the remains were laid to rest in
the Harley cemetery.

Sarah J Thaxton was born April 22, 1833 in Kentucky and was married to N

E Cox in St. Louis Sept. 10, 1850.  To this union were born seven
children, four sons and three daughters, two of whom survive, John Cox
of Perkins, Okla and S A Cox of McCune.  She and her son, S A Cox made
their home together in this city.

She joined the M E Church when 13 years of age and was a lifelong member

of that faith, her last membership being in the New Hope Church at
Strauss.

Mrs. Cox was one of the pioneers of Labette County, the family having
settled about 8 miles from where McCune now stands in 1866."
