1857 Old Settlers Roll

(Last updated Jan. 8, 2004)

This is a census roll of those Creek Indians, or their descendants who emigrated west of the Mississippi River prior to the Treaty of 1832 and who are entitled to participate in the $120,000 dollars provided for in the 6th Article of Treaty of 7th August 1856 as taken and approved by the General Council of the Creek Nation.   For more information about these 1857 census rolls see excerpts of these lengthy letters.   See also this list of claims connected with the payment of funds stipulated in the 6th Article.

This roll consists of 25 pages arranged by tribal town and then by family groups.   This roll is reproduced on microfilm 7RA-23, roll 1, item 1.
