(c) 1999 TFDG Edward Talbee is the earliest known ancestor of the line that descends through William Hitchcock Talbee into NC, KY, IL, IN and elsewhere. Some of these lines will adopt the spelling TAULBEE, others TOLBY. We do not know where Edward came from, if he is part of the line that descends from John TALBY of Salem through Stephen, or if this is a new line altogether. What we do know: Edward Talbee: died 1709 in Baltimore County Maryland. His wife Mary died in 1712. In Baltimore
County Families, 1659 - 1759 Edward is listed as having
died by 1709, leaving 1 son age 3.
(This was son Samuel, father of
William Hitchcock Talbee.) ...Edward Talby paid tax on
land on the north side of Gunpowder and on Back River for the years 1699 thru
1707.
Edward Talbee: died 1709 in Baltimore County Maryland. Will was probated on Sept 14, 1709. Administrative bond was posted by Mary Talbee with Moses Groom and William Jenkinson. His wife, Mary Talbee's will was probated June 4, 1712. Administrative bond as posted by Archibald Rollo with John Fuller and William Hitchcock. The estate was inventoried by John Tayor and William Hitchcock and valued at L. 1.1.9. Edward and Mary's only known son was Samuel, born about 1706. From Rose
Taulbee's book Taulbee: ...Edward
Talby paid tax on land on the north side of Gunpowder and on Back
River for the years 1699 thru
1707. Gunpowder is also a river and only about 60 miles long and was in Baltimore Co., it now is in
Harford co. ... William Hitchcock
also lived on the north side of Gunpowder, this made the two families
neighbors. ...
Rose's information is documented in The Baltimore County, Maryland Tax list compiled by Raymond D.Clark (copyright 1964) and contains the family names of Burchfield, Taulbee, and Hitchcock.
