TWO SWAINSTON BOOKS

TWO SWAINSTON BOOKS

Two volumes of Swainston family history written/edited by Theron L. Swainston, Jr. and sponsored by the Heber and Rosa Swainston  and the George and Mary Swainston family organizations are available at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City. We are indebted to Theron for his dedicated work and effort in completing these outstanding books.

Volume I - A SWAINSTON FAMILY HISTORY

This book contains an illustrated history of George Swainston (1824-1893), his children and our Swainston ancestors back to their earliest roots in English history.  (This volume will consist of about 545 pages and about 600 photos.)

Chapter 1 reviews Swainston places and roots in British history, the origin of the Swainston name, and a 250-year history of our Swainston ancestral line in County Durham , England.

Chapter 2 presents a history of our Swainston’s in Hertfordshire extending from 1800 to 1882.  It includes photographs and descriptions of where they lived, worked, worshiped and raised their large families.  Thirty years of Swainston baptisms into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Hertfordshire and the emigration of the family from England to America are documented.

Chapter 3 settles our Swainston family in America and ends with the death of George and Mary near the turn of the century.

Chapters 4-11 present individual histories of eight of George and Mary Swainston’s children (Albert, Ebenezer, Agnes, Heber, George Jr., Sarah, Mary Ann and Henry) and their families.
