Stidham Drive, between
Ivy Tech State College and Indiana University State in Richmond, Indiana, was
named after F. Wayne [2610] Stidham (son of Edmond [1260] Stidham). F Wayne Stidham, a former banker, was part of
the Eastern Indiana Community College Board that was established in the 1970s
to create a community college in Richmond.
Stidham was the fund-raise chairman and helped raise more than $1
million to buy the land currently occupied by Ivy State, IU East, and Purdue University
in Richmond. “I fee real honored,
naturally,” Stidham said from his Florida residence. “This is one of the nicest things they’ve
done for the Stidhams.” He said he
helped raise the seed money for IU East and his son, Dave Stidham, one of Ivy
Tech’s board members, helped raise money for Ivy Tech. “I’m happy my son followed in my
footsteps. I think he’s done a better
job than I have,” Stidham said. (Palladium-Item, Richmond, Indiana, 17
